The Relationship Of Coffee And Cholesterol
It is a norm in most families that they use coffee when they get up in the morning, so that they may obtain
that jolt of energy that refreshes them and enables them to get going so that they can manage their daily chores.
When a person gets up in the morning, the first thing after washing up is to leap towards the coffee maker and grab
a cup of coffee along with a toast or some cereal, so as to get the required energy and get going. At that time, no
one even thinks of the fact that the coffee that he or she is drinking could be dangerous for his or her health.
But certain studies have proven that coffee, which was once considered to be safe, can be a health hazard,
especially to those who suffer from cholesterol problems.
During certain studies and clinical trials that were conducted by independent
research laboratories, it was found out that there is indeed a relationship between Coffee And
Cholesterol.
The first such study was carried out in 2001 at John Hopkins University School of Medicine, where after a number
of experiments and trials, it was established that if a person used more than six cups of coffee a day, it
facilitated an increase in LDL levels, which are also known as bad fats as they can stick to the walls of blood
vessels and cause blockages. It was therefore advised to people with high LDL levels to use coffee with a cautious
approach.
However, it was also established during the study that the chances of filtered coffee were significantly
lower than unfiltered coffee being used. This was due to the fact that the filters tend to filter up certain oils
that are known as terpenes.
When these oils mix up with other fats, they tend to raise the LDL content of the body and
the total cholesterol levels tend to get higher. The process of filtration takes out most of these oils from the
coffee and thus becomes much more safe to drink than unfiltered coffee.

There is another relationship of
Coffee And Cholesterol. Many people prefer to add sugar and cream to their
coffee. This increases the fat content of the coffee and in turn, raises the
total body cholesterol content. Drinking such fat rich coffee becomes
dangerous when it is taken in unfiltered state. This can mean a sure heart
problem for cholesterol sufferers if they do not take precautionary
steps.
Yet another relationship of Coffee And Cholesterol is
that in terms of blood pressure. Coffee is known to be a potent diuretic, which
means it has the tendency to take water out of the body. When there is high blood
cholesterol in the body, this means that blood tends to get thick and the heart has
to put in more effort in order to pump it around the body. This means a higher
blood pressure and can rupture arteries and capillaries in sensitive areas such as
the brain, therefore causing a stroke and can also render serious damage to the
heart muscles as well. That is why you should drink your coffee with care from now
onwards!
