This Can Be A Lethal Combination
For the person suffers from high blood cholesterol levels, this can turn out to be a
deadly combination, not in the sense that it is very enjoyable but in the sense that it can lead to the birth of
very serious diseases and ultimately to the death of a person. Alcohol And Cholesterol go hand in hand when it
comes to causing problems for a person suffering from high blood cholesterol.
The major health problem that Alcohol And Cholesterol can cause in an obese person is heart disease
and its related problems. Before taking a look at it in more detail, we must know that the total blood cholesterol
can be divided into three distinct parts, the LDL, HDL and triglycerides. The LDL or Low Density Lipoprotein is
known as a bad cholesterol, for the reason that it can travel anywhere in the blood stream due to its low density
and has the tendency to be deposited anywhere in the body due to its waxy and sticky nature.
If a cholesterol sufferer uses alcohol, it causes the blood to thicken, which in turn, causes the speed of
the blood flow to reduce. This means that the LDL now moves slowly and can easily stick to the surface of an
artery, especially the ones that take food and oxygen to the heart. This can cause a blockage and a heart attack
may become eminent.
The second type of blood cholesterol is called the HDL or High Density
Lipoprotein, which is considered to be a good fat. It not only is required for the bodily processes such as
the synthesis of protein and hormones but due to its high density, helps in sweeping the arteries and veins of
any LDL that may be present. It is now known that drinking alcohol may help raise the HDL levels and help a
person to get rid of the unwanted LDL. But it has to be remembered that such properties are only possessed by
certain wines and not by all alcoholic beverages.
The third type of cholesterol is the triglycerides, which can be called powerful energy
providing blocks, due to the fact that they result from a combination of fatty acids and glycerol. Their basic
function is to provide the body with energy and help in certain processes as bile production and the upkeep of
nails and hair. They too, have the tendency to be deposited anywhere in the body and causes vessel blockages.
Alcohol can increase the number of triglycerides and this increases the chance of arterial blockages.

Alcohol And Cholesterol also has a negative impact upon
the liver as well. We know that the liver is primarily responsible for the
digestion of fats. High cholesterol levels mean that the liver has to work
quite a lot in order to digest them all. The liver is also responsible for
the breakup of alcohol, meaning that a combination of the two will overburden
the liver and the toxins produced by alcohol will also damage it. This can
cause liver inflammation to conditions such as liver cancer. So its better
not to use alcohol for a person who suffers from high
cholesterol.
